How does the strain breeding of the Desert Bedoins wor? The strains started with the sturdy, enduring "War mares". Were the strains or family breeding of their mares kept pure? There must have been some strain crossing in acquiring stolen and captured animals. Yet only the hardy and most durable would have been used, as their lives and existance depended on their horses.

A 1925 Grey Abayyah-Umm Jurays mare of Mohamed Ibrahim El Haj of Cairo, Egypt, purchased in 1931 by King Fauad. By a Hamdani-El Nasri stallion and out of an Abayyan-Umm Jurays, El Obeya Om Grace [Grees].
Dam of: 4 colts, leaving no progeny. El Shahbaa was bred to a desert bred for her first colt, a grey, the second colt was sired by El Dere [RAS #20], the third colt was sired by Rasheed [IOHB #1], the fifth foal, a colt, was sired by Ibn Fayda [IOHB #3] -- and 1 filly, El Mahrousa -- these four were chestnuts..

A chestnut mare foaled January 12, 1937 -- was sired by El Zafir [IOHB #10] of the Dahman S. strain. And dam of 6 foals.
1] Mahrous, a chestnut stallion, foaled in 1942 and sired by El Moez [IOHB #8]
2]MAHFOUZA, a bay mare, foaled March 30, 1943 and sired by Hamdan [IOHB #10] a Saqlawi Jidran Ibn Sudan.
3] Mahasen II, a bay mare, foaled in 1944 and sired by El Moez
4] Moharram, a chestnut stallio, foaled in 1946 and sired by Hamdan
5] Mahdia, a bay mare, foaled in 1947 and sired by Hamdan.
6] MAHMOUDA, a chestnut mare foaled October 23, 1951 and sired by Beshier [IOHB #106]
Just a not on Mahmouda -- Her 7th foal, a grey 1968 stallion, *Hedarr #96517 was imported to the United States and had 119? offspring -- dec. 1995. Her 6th foal, a bay 1983 filly, Horiea [IOHB #218] had 3 fillies of which Hasnaa, a bay 1979 filly had 6 progeny --Hasnaa's 1st foal, a chestnut 1983 filly has had 7 foals, whether any are producing on is unclear. Horiea's 3re filly, a bay 1989, Abeer has 4 foals listed, 3 fillies -- 1992 - `1994 - 1995 and a 1993 chestnut colt. All other foals have no progeny. [I don't know if this is of any interest - but I find it fascinating] Mahmouda was sired by Beshier whose sire was El Zafir -- she is the result of half-brother -- half-sister mating.
